Rules of Play

Tournament play will follow the USGA Rules of Golf and we will also recognize any Local Rules
that may be published by any course we play however for pace of play and enjoyment we will
have the following modifications.

SAME BOX.  All Players will play from the same tee box. We will play the Tees closest to 6600 yards.  Players over 62 and Female players will tee off from the next box up however their scores will be adjusted by -1 stroke per 2 rounds until all scores they have used to calculate their handicap are from the up box.  All scores will be calculated  from the same box which will allow the handicaps to be generated from the same course slope and rating and eliminate any questions of unfair advantages.

PLAY IT UP.  Nobody likes to hit a great drive and find their ball in a divot or find half their ball covered in mud, so Players are allowed to adjust their lie and clean mud off of their ball providing they are in the fairway or collars of the hole they are playing. The adjusted lie must be within scorecard length and no closer to the hole. IF THEIR BALL IS IN ANY CUT OF ROUGH OR AN ADJOINING FAIRWAY THEY MUST PLAY THE BALL DOWN AS IT LIES!!

RAKE AND PLACE. Not everyone takes the time to rake footprints or divots in bunkers, so Players are allowed to rake and place their ball in all bunkers. Again, the new lie of the ball has to be within a scorecard length and no closer to the hole. In the case of a ball submerged in water in a bunker, if an acceptable lie is available in the bunker the player has to play from the bunker as long as it is no closer to the hole, if no acceptable lie is available the player may “drop” his ball keeping the original spot of the ball directly between the new lie and the flag.

NO RETURNING TO THE BOX  All native and will be played as a lateral hazard, players that lose a ball are to drop their ball ON THE LINE OF ENTRY within 2 club lengths from the hazard with the same penalty as hitting into a water hazard (1 in, 2 out hitting 3). YOU MAY NOT GO BACK TO THE BOX.  If a player has not left the box they are allowed to hit a provisional ball if they choose and if they find their first ball, IN PLAY, pick up the provisional ball and play the original with no penalty.

OUT OF BOUNDS.  When hitting a ball Out of Bounds the player is to drop in the fairway and take a 2 stroke penalty, one stroke for out of bounds and one stroke for distance.  YOU MAY NOT GO BACK TO THE BOX. If a player has not left the box they are allowed to hit a provisional ball if they choose and if they find their first ball pick up the provisional ball and play the original with no penalty.

READY GOLF!  Enough said!

PACE OF PLAY.  Any group that finishes more than 25 minutes behind the group in front of them will incur a 2-stroke penalty for all players in that group. If a foursome is following a threesome additional time will be allowed but groups are expected to keep up and full rounds should always be played with 4 1⁄2 hours unless being held up by course regular play or exceptional circumstances.
Don’t be a jerk.  Sharing yardage numbers and basic course info is allowed. We all want to have fun and we all still have to hit the shot.

SCORING

Handicaps will be posted as whole numbers, no decimals. They will be rounded up or down depending on the decimal. Maximum handicap is 16.

1 Day Tournaments will be capped at 4 under par.
2 Day Tournaments, on Day 1 the score will be capped at 4 under par, on Day 2 there will be no cap.

For Pace of Play purposes each hole will have a maximum score of quadruple bogey.  We aren’t on TV for a reason, if you’re 4 over on a hole before you hole your putt then pick up and move on.

In the event of a tie at the end of a tournament a “Sudden Death” playoff will be played with the permission of the course.  Playoffs are gross score, if the hole played would result in a higher handicapped player to get a "pop" in match play that player is allowed to move up a box to tee off, however no "pops" will be given in a playoff.  If a playoff can’t be played on the course a putt off will be played on the putting green, whoever makes the most putts out of 10 tries from spots chosen by the committee wins, if tied after 10 putts it’s sudden death.
